What about adoptive families?

|
All adoptive families are carefully screened before they can receive a child in a process known as a homestudy. Their backgrounds are thoroughly investigated, including child abuse and criminal history records, and they must provide several forms of references in the homestudy process. Many have taken newborn parenting classes to prepare themselves for the arrival of their adopted child. Adoption Connection approved families are all versed in adoption issues such as how to tell your child about their adoption, special adoption issues with schools, and so on.
Once a family receives a child, they are supervised by the agency for a minimum of six months before the adoption can be finalized so that everyone is assured that the baby and his or her new family bond in every way possible. During that time and after the adoption is completed, you may have the option of receiving photos and updated information about how your child is doing in the new family you have chosen, as agreed between you and the family beforehand. You may also send anything you wish your child to have (presents, photos of you and/or your family, letters from you, etc.) to the adoptive family directly in an open adoption or through Adoption Connection in all other adoptions. |
